KAEXA FAQ
Ketamine-Assisted Expressive Arts Coaching with Catherine Scholz
1. What is KAEXA?
KAEXA (Ketamine-Assisted Expressive Arts) is a transformational coaching experience that helps high-performing adults reconnect with their creative intelligence — the integrated blend of intuition, purpose, and emotional vitality that fuels innovation and insight.
This program combines expressive arts, neuroscience-informed practices, and carefully framed, ketamine-assisted experiences in a structured, intentional process. The aim is to reignite creative flow and restore connection to the part of you that sees patterns, generates breakthroughs, and leads with vision.
2. Who is this program for?
KAEXA is designed for visionary leaders, founders, creators, and professionals who:
- Solve complex problems yet feel stuck in repetitive thinking or burnout
- Once thrived on creativity and innovation but now feel disconnected or flat
- Want transformation that engages the whole self — not just the logical mind
- Are ready to access deeper states of awareness and bring that wisdom back into their work and leadership
If you’re used to high performance but feel your inner drive or inspiration dimming, KAEXA helps you reconnect to the current that fuels your best work.
3. What makes KAEXA different from traditional therapy or coaching?
Traditional approaches often work primarily with the cognitive layer — analyzing, talking, and planning. KAEXA invites experiential transformation.
KAEXA engages expressive arts, embodied awareness, and intentionally framed altered states to access new creative and emotional intelligence. It’s not about talking about change — it’s about entering a state where change becomes naturally available within a structured coaching and integration framework.
This is especially powerful if you’ve “done the mindset work” and still sense that something essential — aliveness, imagination, purpose — needs to be reawakened.
4. What does the program include?
- Discovery call and safety screening
- Guided sessions blending expressive arts and ketamine-assisted experiences
- Integration practices such as creative journaling, reflection, and art assignments
- A supportive container designed for high-performing individuals balancing intensity with introspection
Typical duration: 6 weeks, paced to support deep creative and emotional recalibration.
5. Is ketamine required? Is this a medical treatment?
In KAEXA, ketamine is used as a creative and integrative tool, not a recreational or purely medical intervention. All medication is prescribed and supervised by licensed medical professionals.
This process does not provide or replace therapy or psychiatric care, though it can complement both. Participation requires medical screening, and each session is framed as part of a creative, problem-solving process that bridges intellect with intuitive and emotional intelligence.
KAEXA does not diagnose, treat, or cure medical or mental health conditions.
6. What outcomes can I expect?
- Resurgence of creative flow and imaginative capacity
- Renewed sense of emotional vitality and purpose
- Clearer decision-making aligned with vision
- Integration of intellect and intuition in work and life
- A grounded, revitalized connection to what truly drives you
Results depend on your engagement, openness, and follow-through — most clients describe the work as profoundly catalytic.
7. What are the prerequisites and safety requirements?
- Medical clearance and physical stability
- Emotional readiness to engage expressive and altered states
- Willingness to reflect and integrate (beyond quick fixes or “optimization” alone)
- Commitment to the process, understanding transformation unfolds through active participation
8. How do I know if now is the right time?
Consider:
- Do I feel creatively or emotionally blocked despite outward success?
- Do I want to feel alive and imaginative again — not perfect, but engaged?
- Am I ready to slow down, listen deeply, and reconnect with my inner source of insight?
If yes, this may be the moment to begin.
9. What’s the investment and how do I start?
- Book a free discovery call
- Complete medical and creative readiness screening
- Receive your personalized program outline and start date
- Begin your KAEXA journey — guided, supported, and tailored to your goals
10. What if it doesn’t work for me?
KAEXA is not a quick fix or performance hack. It’s a process of deep reconnection — a recalibration of your creative, emotional, and imaginative systems.
While outcomes vary, most clients experience lasting benefits from the insights and integration practices. I provide support to translate your experience into meaningful, sustained growth.
11. Why did I create KAEXA?
After years of working with high-performing professionals, I observed a shared pattern: brilliant people reach a point where drive and intellect alone can’t move them forward. Pushing harder yields diminishing returns.
KAEXA offers another path — reawakening creative intelligence through curiosity, artistry, and safe altered states of consciousness. It’s about returning to flow from the inside out.
12. What KAEXA is NOT
KAEXA is intentionally designed with clear boundaries. It may be helpful to know what this program is not:
KAEXA is not therapy or medical treatment. It does not diagnose, treat, or cure mental health or medical conditions, and it does not replace psychotherapy, psychiatry, or medical care. While it can complement therapy, it is a coaching and creative integration process.
KAEXA is not a ketamine clinic or medication service. KAEXA does not prescribe, supply, or administer ketamine. All medication decisions are made independently between you and a licensed medical provider.
KAEXA is not recreational or escapist. This program is not designed for altered states as an end in themselves. Ketamine is used sparingly and intentionally as part of a structured creative and integrative process, not for dissociation, avoidance, or repeated dosing.
KAEXA is not a quick fix, hack, or optimization program. This work values depth, integration, and lasting change over speed or performance enhancement. Transformation unfolds through engagement, reflection, and application over time.
KAEXA is not for everyone. It is not appropriate for individuals seeking symptom relief alone, those unwilling to engage in integration practices, or those with active substance misuse or untreated psychiatric instability.
KAEXA is for people who are ready to reconnect with creativity, imagination, and inner intelligence — and to translate insight into meaningful, grounded change.
Ketamine-Specific and Logistics FAQ
Who provides the ketamine?
All ketamine is prescribed and dispensed by a licensed medical provider. You will never be asked to obtain ketamine outside of a licensed medical provider. I partner only with providers who follow FDA and state safety guidelines.
Do we use a microdose or full dose, and how is dosing determined?
Dosing is individualized and determined by the prescribing medical professional in consultation with you. Our KAEXA sessions use low to moderate doses (micro-to-mild) that allow you to remain present and expressive. The goal is not to escape reality, but to open creative channels safely.
What research supports the safety of ketamine?
Ketamine has been FDA-approved as an anesthetic for over 50 years. Its structured, professionally supervised use in mental health and consciousness work has expanded in recent decades, with research indicating potential benefits for depression, anxiety, and conditions associated with burnout and reduced cognitive flexibility. Side effects with low-dose ketamine are typically brief and mild.
Do I need a locked container for my medication?
Yes — secure storage is recommended. If medication is dispensed for at-home use, you’ll receive clear instructions for storage and disposal from the pharmacy or provider.
How long after a session am I safe to drive or make major decisions?
Please arrange a minimum 24-hour window after each ketamine-assisted session before driving, signing legal documents, or making significant decisions. Physical steadiness often returns within an hour, while mental and emotional integration can continue into the next day. Plan for rest, hydration, and gentle activities afterward.
Are sessions remote or at your facility?
KAEXA is currently offered remotely only.
What type of environment is needed for a session? Do I need any supplies?
You’ll receive a preparation checklist before each session. Typically, you’ll need:
- A quiet, comfortable space with minimal distractions
- Art or journaling materials
- Headphones and curated music playlists (provided)
- An optional support person for grounding (recommended for your first session)
How long are sessions and how often do they occur?
Sessions typically last 90 minutes to 2 hours which includes both experience and integration. The full KAEXA program unfolds over 6 weeks, with pacing customized to your process.
Is there a refund policy?
Because KAEXA is a bespoke, time-based program, refunds are not available after payment. Full terms are outlined in your client agreement.
Is there a referral credit?
Not at this time.
Do I need someone nearby to monitor my mental health or vital signs?
Your medical provider will assess this during screening. For home-based ketamine sessions, it’s often recommended to have a trusted support person available for the first hour post-administration and for check-ins during integration for the first session only. After your first ketamine experience, a chaperone is generally not needed.

Is Ketamine addictive?
Ketamine is not generally considered physically addictive when used at therapeutic doses in the way substances like opioids, alcohol, or benzodiazepines can be. However, like any psychoactive substance, it can be misused if taken frequently, without intention, or outside of a structured framework that supports safety and integration.
In KAEXA, ketamine is used with intentional preparation, integration practices, and clear boundaries — and only when prescribed and supervised by a licensed medical provider. The focus of the program is on process, meaning, and creative transformation rather than repeated or escalating use. KAEXA does not provide or administer ketamine itself.
Individuals with active substance misuse or untreated addiction are not eligible to participate, and anyone considering ketamine use is encouraged to discuss potential risks and benefits with their medical provider.
